ONLINE HOT CAMERA

Design of the camera unit is based around external influences such as:

v      Electro-static discharge from modern precipitation units

v      Operating temperatures ranging from ambient to 700oC

v      Turbulence from fan induced gas flow

v      Saturation from FGD scrubbers

v      Aggressive flue gas agents

v      Suspended particulate within the flue gas

Within the box, an array of 4 digital video cameras capture images covering the entire horizontal plain. In addition to this, a 5th camera is located within the base of the camera box which detects radial and profile deformations within the lining cylinders.

Operation of the camera is based around a fully demountable davit which is anchored to the external fabric of the chimney summit, allowing the camera to be winched up and down the chimney interior and exterior.

Prior to the introduction of STACK-CONS’ unique video monitoring system, first generation hot-camera systems largely comprised of still photography taken at 10m intervals throughout the height of the chimney. The results were inconclusive due to large areas of the lining fabric being unobserved.

The monitoring system

consists of a self contained insulted unit which accommodates its own power supply, lighting, cameras, duplex units and thermometers.
